12v LED emergency back up light

Hey guys, I am wondering if anybody can help!

I have a worm farm that needs constant light (doesn’t need to be that bright, just to keep the worms from escaping.) I have a 3hr emergency light plugged in that works perfectly for shorter power outages, but the last one lasted 16 hours, so I need to take action! I was hoping for a deep cycle leisure battery attached to some LEDs that would kick in if ever the power goes off again….without connecting to the mains, is there any kind of set up that would activate LEDs and battery if mains went out (worms in a pitch black tent so maybe light sensor activation?!

I found a thread similar here: 12 Volt car battery emergency light - #14 by opale7000

But this was a little advanced for my level and is now closed to replies sorry. Please bear in mind I’m not even sure I understand volts, amps, etc, so reply as if to a seven year old please! Huge thanks in advance!x
