I am about to test out this combination (Giga + Motor Shield Rev3) when they arrive today. I note that the Giga I/O pins are not 5V-tolerant. But the Motor Shield doesn't seem to match up with this at first glance. I haven't dug into the specs of the logic gates (the XOR), but they need to operate on 3.3V logic levels. As for inputs to the Giga, there are the analog sense signals from the op-amp. Two additional analog inputs are clamped to IOREF. But all other accessory connectors on the Motor Shield appear hard-wired for +5V logic with no IOREF clamp. Strictly speaking, the input pin just passes to the Giga, but on the same three-pin connector you have +5V and GND. If your input wiring ignores the 5V pin everything should be okay.
Question... are there any gotchas using this shield with the Giga in regards to the logic level mismatch?
