Arduino Giga R1 is powered mostly by 3V3 rail created from 5V using MP2322GQH regulator with 1A current limit. 3.3W 1A is a bottleneck for 3V3 rail, which is used to power Arduino Giga itself, Giga display shield and optional camera. I do not expect that much power is left for any extra shield.
I assume that charging USB-C port can produce 5V 2A easily. AP63200WU-7 powered from Vin pin also can produce 5V 2A, there is a lot of power for 5V rail.
The only option to power the custom shield is to use Giga 5V rail only and have another step down regulator or LDO to produce for the shield 3.3V from 5V. It is also desirable to have enable pin connected to 3V3 Giga rail to enable the shield 3.3V power only if 3V3 present on Arduino.
Please provide feedback or suggestions.
