previous owner of my milling machine bought cheap linear encoders, something like this:
I would like to upgrade to something more advanced:
Alas, the display standalone is relatively cheap, but each of these 3 linear sensors costs +- the same money as the display unit. So as whole it is expensive.
I am wondering, whether those sensors might not be used after all. The obvious trouble is, that the cheap units have mini USB connector, but the desired display has DB9 connector. Does not anybody have experince, if this could be fixed at reasonable costs?
There are USB--> DB9 connectors for $2 on the market, but I guess it not that easy?
